Satakunta Polytechnics (SAMK) has developed product models and their maintenance, distribution, and usage, since 1997. This project is a follow-up to the "Center of Excellence in HVAC and CAD, development and start" project which ended in 1999. The project is carried out in cooperation with Progman Oy and HVAC industry. Progman Oy is specialized in HVAC software (CAD/calculations) development.
The purpose of this follow-up project is to develop product modeling methods, in particular, a tool which can be used for maintaining the product data in the manufacturing companies, and an Internet based distribution method for the product databases.
In addition, goals for this project are to support exportation, to affect the international IFC definitions in HVAC field, and to advance product model based 3D design.
