The Bild-IT objective is to develop interoperable software tools for HVAC industry. All development is based on true international collaboration. The main software tools to be developed are for energy simulation (EnergyPlus by LBNL and Riuska by Olof Granlund), CFD simulation (CFX by AEA and MIT-CFD by MIT) and product selection (HIT/Blockmaster by Halton). Also design tools for special application areas, such as kitchen design and
day lighting, are further developed to fit to the interoperable environment.
Standard methods of exchanging design information within the software tools will be used based on the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) of the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) in order to provide an open, interoperable environment for equipment selection and HVAC system analysis. BSPro COM-Server, developed by Olof Granlund Oy and chosen as the main IFC interface technology in the project, will be further developed to meet the requirements of new software
clients.
