Project summary:

The project was a feasibility study for Vera programme preparation covering building services and building automation areas.

Achieved results in the project:
The questionnaire was sent to 56 building services companies and answer were received from 34%. Additionally 15 key persons in companies were interviewed. The companies included contractors, equipment industry, trade and consultants.

Those companies, which had participated development projects or had own inhouse IT development, answered clearly more actively than the companies without development experience. HVAC and building automation companies were more active than electrical companies. For these reasons the results are not representing the average situation in the BS domain in Finland, but the situation in the companies who are active in IT field.

The BS domain consists of a large number of small companies and this together with the fragmented structure of domain has complicated the development. The small companies, especially in contractor and consultant field, usually do not have enough resources for development.
